Browsing floor plans for your new home can be equal parts exciting and stressful. After all, picking a floor plan is a big decision, so you want to make sure you make the right choice. We here at David Jordan Homes recommend asking yourself these following questions to help you choose the right floor plan for your future home.

- How much space do I need? “Space” refers to several different things. How many rooms do you need? How big do you want these rooms to be? What kind of layout works for your lifestyle? When looking through different floor plans, you should ask yourself whether a plan you like has enough space for you to comfortably go about your day and fit all of your belongings.
- What do I like/not like in a home? Consider places you’ve lived before as well as homes you’ve been to in the past. What home features do you like that you want to include? Are there any features that you don’t like and want to avoid? Use your time in other houses as inspiration for what you want your future home to have (and not have).
- Does this plan fit my style? Both function and fashion are important when looking at floor plans. Even if a home has enough space for your needs and has all of the practical elements that you want, you still won’t love your home if the layout or other elements don’t match your style preferences. Home design is about aesthetics as much as it is about functionality, so make sure the plan you choose looks beautiful to you.
